The objective of the “Culatra, Comunidade Sustentável” project is to create opportunities for the sustainable development of Culatra Island (Faro) through the implementation of an integrated programme of information, awareness, training and capacity building.

The project “DACulatra – Participatory Diagnosis and Action Plan for ecological sustainability on the island of Culatra” is part of a larger initiative, called “Culatra 2030 – Sustainable Energy Community”, which aims in general terms at the development of a pilot community in renewable energies on the island of Culatra. 

The Culatra Energy Transition Agenda constitutes a challenge and an opportunity for the development of the community, so it is necessary to create a set of mechanisms that favor and accelerate the process of structural innovation and that contribute to the construction of a territory that is self-sustaining in terms of energy, based on renewable energies.
