The institution

C-COOP

C-COOP - Cooperative for the Sustainability of Culatra Island was formally established on September 25, 2022, within the scope of the Culatra 2030 initiative.

It is the result of the joint effort of young entrepreneurs and leaders of the main associations of Culatra to prepare the future of the next generations and, at the same time, defend the preservation of the identity of its fishing community. C-COOP vision is to guarantee the future prosperity of local generations through the efficient management of the natural resources.

In response to current challenges, the C-COOP acts as a catalyst for the circular economy and the valorisation of local products. Committed to energy self-sufficiency by 2030, it leads the Pilot Project for the Renewable Energy Community of Culatra Island (REC).

Through these types of initiatives, C-COOP ensures the creation of a more resilient and sustainable future for all its inhabitants.

Its journey to date, although short, is marked by the commitment of its members, who participate on a strictly voluntary and informal basis, to internally recreate the minimum conditions necessary to guarantee the operationality of C-COOP and to shorten the effectiveness of its action.
